The Inbox is your capture point for any idea, task, or thought that enters your mind. Think of it as a frictionless collection bin where everything lands first before being organized.

β° When to Use It
Use the Inbox whenever something comes to mind that you donβt want to forget:
- β Quick tasks that pop up during the day
- β Ideas you want to develop later
- β Things people mention that you need to follow up on
- β Articles, videos, or content you want to save
- β Random thoughts you donβt have time to organize right now
βοΈ How It Works
Dictateβs Collect feature is designed to be straightforward and flexible. You can add items to your inbox from anywhere in the appβthereβs always a quick-add option in the header.
The philosophy: capture first, organize later. Donβt interrupt your flow to categorize or prioritize. Just get it out of your head and into the system.
π‘ Tips & Examples
Keep it low-friction: The faster you can capture, the more likely you are to use it. Donβt worry about perfect formatting or categorization at capture time.
Process regularly: Your inbox should be a temporary holding area, not permanent storage. Set aside time daily or weekly to process β items into their proper place.
Capture everything: Even if something seems trivial, capture it. You can always delete it later during processing. The goal is to free your mind from trying to remember everything.
Example workflow:
- β¨ During a meeting, someone mentions a book β Add to inbox
- β¨ Thinking about dinner plans β Add to inbox
- β¨ Remember you need to email someone β Add to inbox
- β¨ Later, during your processing β session, you organize these items appropriately
